Oh, no! Not another writing blog

My colleagues tell me that "everybody and his twin brother" gives writing tips on their websites. I've avoided doing this for the past three years. Up until a year ago, it was easy to refrain. But when I started teaching freshman English, I've "itched" to talk about writing. Anyway, the "talk" will float into cyberspace, somewhat like storytelling.--words flying into the air.

Last week I realized that this website needs to be functional by offering a reason for readers to return.  Also, it needs to serve special purposes---educational ones, when possible. Therefore, by tomorrow (9/4) I'll add a writing tip to this site everyday. At least, everyday I have access to the internet. This will not come in the form of writing advice, rather, it will simply be random tips that come to mind as I explore my own writing, as I edit the writing of others and as I grade over 400 essays a semester.

It may prove to be boring for those who would rather read than write. Even though there is a lot to say about writing, I'll throw in reading tips from time to time.

Visitors to the site are invited to submit tips. Therefore, this list could end up being a mile long. When it seems unwieldly, I'll categorize it and keep going. So, check in day by day and get a few new ideas and sometimes an old rehash.
